The launch email sequence consisted of 5-6 emails over a period of 5 days. The 6th email was the cart closing email. However, in the middle email, email number 3, I offered a free download with no sign-up, no strings attached. Obviously, they were already on my email list, but they would get this download for free, and it would give them an example of what they would find in the course. They would find lots of other templates similar to that in the course.
Not only was this like a refresher or a breather in the email sequence, it was put there to generate goodwill and to show a little of what they could expect inside the offer. Additionally, the link to that freebie was a trigger link and so FGFunnels automatically takes note.
This meant that I would be able to segment everybody in my email sequence who clicked on that trigger link. They would receive a tag in my contacts.
This was very successful because now, I could customize the follow-up emails to those people. I could send them an extra email asking them how they liked the template, giving them more details on other templates that were in the course. Knowing they were interested enough to click the link helped me segment my messaging even more.
The way this worked for me in September when I added a new video planning freebie download in the middle of the email sequence was that I saw that one person had already been opening all of my emails, so I already had my eye on their name, and to confirm my intuition, they clicked on the trigger link.
Now, I only have about 130 people on my list, so I have a very small list. But this person did go on to purchase the deal, which was a $666 coaching and coworking 3 month membership.
Later, in November, because of that purchase tag, when it came to my Black Friday sale, they were not included in the remarketing of the same offer. However, I was doing a one-off, one-spot custom deal, and I did include their emails in that one-spot, one-offer custom done-for-you offer. And one responded that they were interested in it. They bought the deal.
So, it turned out that one person from my 134-person list, who had been sitting on my list since April, finally bought the first thing I offered in September. And then, in November, they also went on to upgrade that offer.
But that trigger link helped me hone down on how many people in that 134 list were very engaged and were on the cusp, so that I could customize an extra email or two in the second half of the email sequence to really persuade them and try to tip them over the edge by talking about the download that they had accessed.
To conclude, trigger links are super helpful. Even if you have a tiny list, it's worth using them. This system generated a $5,000 sale from one person on a list of 134 people.
Copy the direct link to your freebie, (the actual delivery link in GDrive or Dropbox wherever you host it.)
Open FGFunnels and navigate to Marketing on the side menu
On the top menu you'll see trigger links
Click Add Link and paste in the link to create your custom trigger link to use in your email.
When creating your email in the Campaign or Template section, click the tag icon on the rhs of the link url box and you will be able to choose the Trigger link you just created. (see below)
Have you used Trigger Links? Can you add them into your next launch to segment your list as you go? I'd love to know how you are using them.
